Circular on Adjusting the Old-age Pension Insurance Contribution Rate of Workers of Towns and Cities of Shanghai

  To all the government at district or county level, all commissions, offices, bureaus, the holding (group) corporations, the Municipal Settlement & Administration Center for Social Insurance Affairs Fund, and the district or county social insurance administration centers:

  In accordance with the Circular of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government on Adjusting Some Parts of the Rules of the Old-age Pension Insurance for Workers of  Towns and Cities of Shanghai, which stipulates that the individual contribution rate shall increase one percentage point every two years until the ultimate 8% of the individual contribution base, the individual contribution rate, approved by the Municipal Government, shall be increased from June 1, 2002.  The details as follows:

  1. The individual contribution rate is increased from 6% to 7%;
  2. With adjustment of the individual contribution rate, the rate of contributions by the employing unit vested in the worker’s individual account is 4%.
