The Circular on Adjusting the Minimum Wage of Workers of Shanghai Municipality

  To all the Municipal Commissions, offices, Bureaus, the holding Corporations, the labour & social security Bureaus of district or county:

  With the approval of the Municipal Government, the monthly minimum wage of workers is adjusted to RMB 535 yuan since July 1, 2002.  The following items are not included in the minimum wage, the enterprise should pay additionally:

  1. the overtime pay;
  2. the allowances for mid-shift, night shift, work in extreme temperatures, in mine or exposure to toxic and harmful materials;
  3. the contributions of the basic old-age pension insurance, health insurance, unemployment insurance and the public housing fund paid by the individual workers themselves.
  4. the allowances for meals, transportation and housing.
